Rise and shine

Goodmorning world. Yes, this is a early rise and shine, even for me. Through weekdays it's more or less a usual time but for a saturday it's something special. Most of the saturdays I'm working at my dad's store and that doesn't open until 10.00 am so I can get some sleep but today is the start of a nice movie weekend and my guest is coming over from Schagen, which is in the north of Holland. She is getting on a early train and I'm picking her up in Utrecht and we drive the rest together. This should be fun I think. Got to go now, catch you guys later. Drive safe,

Mail service
Wednesday, January 28, 2004
at : 1/28/2004 11:02:00 pm

Evening folks :-) This week at work I have the control over our servicedesk mailbox. That means that I'm reading mail the entire day and calling the people who were sending them to ask them what they meant exactly ... This is (and I'm not kidding) just a little boring and very tiring. I guess the worst part is that every time I get a bunch done and refresh the inbox there are 10 new ones waiting for me to answer. This never ends. I didn't have the idea of getting work done during the last couple of days. Of course there is a certain amount of e-mail that needs to be sent, there is simply no other way ot get some information across. And if you would try it by telephone you'd have a hard time not making typo's. So it's here to stay :| The good news is that it does get better because they're implementing all sorts of electronic forms for people to fill out. When we're at the point when they can be processed automatically we're safe ;-) Luckaly the folks I'm working with are quite a good group. We have a laugh about every 5 minutes and that does help a one heck of a lot. Knowing I can go there to work makes it easier to get up early and get myself in gear. Speaking of which: I have to go and get some sleep. I'm going to have to try and get some sort of reserve for the weekend. This will be a movie weekend so I'll need to be at least a little awake for it ;-) Did I tell you guys yet that I'm having a guest over? I didn't did I ... we'll maybe we'll discuss it the next time ... Sleep well,

Snooker

at : 1/28/2004 01:32:00 am

Hi again. We've played snooker tonight and, unfortunately, lost 5 frames to 4. Nonetheless we've played reasonably well. Considering these guys are normaly better than us we're not the ones feeling sorry about this end score. My first frame I lost due to way to much in-offs and other fouls, doing credit for the name of our snookerteam: Foul and a Miss. The second frame I needed every ball from brown up and including the black when I tried to play safe and accidentaly put the brown over the pocket. End of frame. The third one however I won surprisingly easy, just playing well and taking advantage from the chances given to me. So in the end my part of the deal was one point and the other three came from Bas. He's more and more the one scoring the most consistent and taking about 2 frames minimum per game. Greetz,

Kill Bill
Tuesday, January 27, 2004
at : 1/27/2004 12:07:00 am

One word: Wow ... Without a doubt one of the most impressive movies ever. And I have seen quite a few over time. What a great combination of classic martial arts action, cool humor, absolutely great music parts and links to old samurai movies. Just great. Lucky for us that the second part is due march so we don't have to wait as long as say the Matrix or the Lord of the Rings trilogies. Just think of Starwars and this will seem like next week, trust me. We'll come back on the Kill Bill subject but I just wanted to express my first thoughts on the evening. Wow ... Greetz,

Flightjock

Hi folks. Last weekend I mostly tried to master the Lomac (Lock On Modern Air Combat) flightsimulator. Knowing myself you can count on it that this is not an arcade game but a full option simulation so you better grow some extra hands to be able to use all 101 keys on your keyboard ;-) After a while I was getting the hang of it and was capable of taking off (duh! big deal), landing, locking targets (and shooting them of course, Combact remember? :-), etc. Allmost every basic trick has been tried out and practised. This one and a half day of flying doesn't make me the most feared airwarrior yet, but we're getting there one step at a time. Someday ... Today work was kinda hecktic. We use Notes for mail system (I know I know, we all make mistakes) and about two third of our servers went down. Needless to say our phone didn't stop ringing for quite some time and we had to repeat the same message over and over again: yes we know they're down, no we don't know when it's fixed (the classic ' don't call us, we'll call you' approach) ... Somedays you wish you'd stay at home, in bed, and pretended you didn't hear the alarmclock ... Tonight I'm finaly going to see Kill Bill in the cinema (yes it still runs overhere) and I'm really looking foward to that. So tomorrow I'll let you know what I think of it. Beware! LOL Take care,

Donington
Saturday, January 24, 2004
at : 1/24/2004 12:27:00 am

Well well well. What to say. Geez, I made quite a mess of Donington. In short I had too little practise, a too big headache and basically was not in good condition to drive. However I did start the race and 26 laps later finished 10th. Things could have been worse I guess but I wasn't all that happy about it. The thing is I didn't like the track that much from the start so it's good that we have this one behind us. By the way we have a more complete racereport on the way so stay tuned. But there is also some good news. Tonight we had snooker competition which went a whole lot better that racing :-) We were up against our #1 team from Matchroom and were able to beat them 5 to 4. So that gave us a great motivational boost and overall happy happy joy joy feelings, I can tell you. Biek won one frame, as did Jaap. And Bas managed to take all his 3 frames with a victory, it's good we brought him with us ;-) Whoahahaha (insiders joke) Party!

So sleepy
Wednesday, January 21, 2004
at : 1/21/2004 10:41:00 pm

Hi there. I'm tired. This morning I overslept myself, and I think there is no worse start of a day. Work itself was a little slow today and I just could not get into my usual working rhythm. So I more or less sat it out and waited for the bell. Which came at about noon when our superviser picked not the very best moment to ask me where my pace had gone. Right. Unable to tell her exactly what was wrong I returned to his seat to get things going. I did get most of the work done but had to stay to about 18.00 while I usually leave at 16.30. I guess it was only fair today. Then I fired up the ugly Seat and drove to a very good friend of me who had troubles with his pc. The only downside to that is that he lives allmost on the other side of the country. Good for the Airmiles though ;-) When I got there I couldn't fix his machine as it turned out to have a broken processor fan. I don't know about you but I don't carry these things around with me so I had to take the pc with me and drop it off at my dad's store. There me and dad a had a quick chat and I left to get home just about now. Because I want to get some of the sleep back I lost last night I'll make this a short one. Tomorrow is another day and after the GPL race on Donnington I'll have some more to tell you I hope :-) Goodnight,

Snooker

at : 1/21/2004 10:59:00 am

Hi fans. We've (that's our snookerteam and me) have been playing a practise game of snooker last night. It's been a long time since I played so well. Man that feels good, it's good to know I've still got it in me. Hopefully I can stay in this shape for the next friday's competition game against the other Matchroom team: Storm. Wish us luck ;-) Greetz,

He's the so called 'brain' behind all this foolishness isn't he? Yes I'm pretty sure he's the one. And you came here hoping to read all the nasty details about him, right? What's there to say? Let's start with what we know for a fact and go from there: Name: Biek (or Biek for friends) Born: Yes (oh very funny...) on the 20th December 1971 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands Nationality: Well reading the above line I think this should make him a Dutchman Hair: Natural blond and loving it :-) Size: 6 ft (tall of course, what were you thinking?) Weight: No comment (actually it is about 145 pounds but Biek doesn't like talking about it :-) Blood type: O-positive (Always oh-so-positive) Occupation: ICT Technician Car: 1964 Volvo Amazon Coupe (unfortunately I had to let the Volvo go, and I miss her dearly) Bike: Actualy Biek has 2 but has no clue whatsoever about how to use them Hobbies: Cars, Formula One racing, computers, (racing) games, movies, snooker and yes the playstation 2 Favorite food: Pizza, pizza, pizza, Chinese (the food that is), chili, Greek (food again) and coffee (did I mention pizza?) And you probably can guess the rest can't you? A model citizen, I don't drink or smoke, never exceed the speed limit (anymore...darnit), as said I love to play snooker, watch movies (both in theaters and at home), like playing (computer) games and I actually like my job. When you, for whatever reason, want to get to know me a little better I suggest you start or keep on reading this log. That should give you a pretty good idea of the Biek. Cheers, Uncle Biek
