Hi all. Well I just came back from the dentist who had another portion of bad news to tell me. His photo equipment doesn't work so he can't take the picture to see the what and why inside my mouth. He promised me a call when it's working again ... Don't call us, we'll call you ... sort off ...

Visiting mom
Monday, October 25, 2004
at : 10/25/2004 11:44:00 pm

Hi all. While risking my life and that of others because I was driving after using one of the strong pain killers (not really, or at least I think it wasn't that bad), tonight I visited my mother and her friend Hans. They now finaly live together and it was the second time I went over there. This time I didn't even loose the way over there for a second so that's covered from now on ;-) We've been fiddling with her computer again, for which I need to find a little faster one to replace this one soon by the way, and have been catching up on the latest news and gossip ;-) It was a nice evening although it's sad to see her having so much trouble with her neck aching and all. Hope she is going to feel better soon, this is no fun. Hope we get well soon mom!

No luck yet

Hi all. If only I hadn't decided not to curse here on my Blog ... There would have apeared a whole lot of small words right here, I tell you. Problem is that there seems to be a small ulcer around the broken tooth that has to be cured before he can pull it. This means at least a small week with this pain before anything can be done about it. He did prescribe me some pain killers for during those days but recommended not to do a lot of driving while using them ... Seems I'm not going anywhere soon then :S God it hurts ... now where is my powder ...

Tooth in half!
Tuesday, October 19, 2004
at : 10/19/2004 07:32:00 pm

Hi all. I must have been doing something wrong in a past life I think ... guess what? This afternoon during lunch one of my tooth broke in half! I thought I knew what true pain was but this takes it to a whole different level. God it hurts. It's a kind of pain so mean and direct, it makes me water my eyes just being awake at the moment. Let's make a quick visit to the dentist tomorrow and hope he can repair the damage. I'll be back, but no idea when ... When it stops hurting like this might be a good answer. You'll see.

I'm back

at : 10/19/2004 07:45:00 am

Hi all. I'm back. At work that is. Yesterday was Mr van Bemmel's funeral so I didn't go to work. At first I had planned to go back there afterwards but I just didn't feel like it so I went straight home afterwards. The funeral was okay I guess if they can be that at all. Nothing out of the ordinary, nor was it very crowded. I guess when people get this old, Mr van Bemmel reached the good age of eighty seven, the number of people at their funeral is quite less then when a younger person passes away. Now that I think of it you could almost say that it's a good thing when there are not too many people around. Mainly his family was there and some people from the retirement home, who I didn't know. These happenings are not going to be easy. Ever. Fortunately there is some good news too. Besides being back at work I'm also back on the internet at home because my own personal hero Mr Wolf from the United Kingdom was so kind so send me his ADSL modem which he wasn't using anymore. Huge thanks to you m8, I can't express enough how much this means to me. This means I'll be able to 'live' on the internet again and keep my/this website better up to date. So ... life goes on folks, let's follow that lead.

Mr van Bemmel passed away
Friday, October 15, 2004
at : 10/15/2004 11:43:00 pm

Hi all. I tell you I'm getting quite depressed when I think of all my friends I had to let go over the passed couple of years. And today the unfortunate news reached me that yet another passed away. When I first met Mr van Bemmel he came into our shop as a customer looking for programs for his beloved Commodore 64. We are talking 1994 here and at that time the C64 was more or less as out of date as it is now. We were having some in the shop because we've always been trading in second hand stuff on new stuff and those computers were traded in every now and then. At first we tried to get him going again but he wanted to do some more and the main thing he was missing was a program he could use to make postcards and menu's and things like that. Nowadays we'd call that a publisher kind of program. We couldn't get him that on his C64 but for PC we had Presentations, a program from the people behind Word Perfect, that could do all these things. So he then made the big step to the new world of PC. Naturally this wasn't a easy step so he needed some assistance to get him on his way. And this is how we got from shopkeeper/customer to good friends. In the beginning I was at their place (Mrs. van Bemmel was still with us then) at least once a week, sometimes more. I really liked the spirit and enthusiasm he put into getting to know this new PC thing. Over time we got really close and for me, having lost my originals grand dads at young age (both them and I sadly), he became the missing grand dad and much more to me. He would call me and ask if I had something to do that night and we end up talking the entire night, not getting to the PC at all. I'm going to miss you mister, big time, and even though I don't believe in things like a afterlife I do hope that you and Mrs. van Bemmel will meet up and look down every now and then. The one you see looking up will nine out of ten times be me. Say hi from me if you see any of the others. Take care buddy.

Raceweekend
Monday, October 11, 2004
at : 10/11/2004 07:07:00 am

Hi all. Boy did we do some serious racing this weekend, miles and miles and miles. And some 'on' the track too ;-) The main reason why I say on the track too is that we've gotten our hands on the Richard Burns Rally game, by far the very best rally game on PC ever. Normally I don't have much up with rally games. I like tarmac better and the F1, GT and Le Mans cars are way cooler to drive (as in faster, better handling, etc.). But every now and then we like to try something new and that can be all sorts of stuff. RB Rally was it for this weekend and boy did we have fun. It's not that easy, rally driving, though it sure seems that way when looking on it on TV. Formula One does too, and we sure know it isn't, but somehow rally looks easier. To cut a long story short: it is ;-) But that didn't stop us from trying to beat each others times again and again, like we usually do during the weekends. We had great fun. If you can't beat them, smoke (or better yet: dust) them out!

Snooker competition last night
Thursday, October 07, 2004
at : 10/07/2004 07:16:00 am

Hi all. As many of you might know (yes, that's right. I'm talking to all three of you out there ;-) I'm competing in a regional snooker competition with two good friends. Yesterday evening we had another competition evening and went to Arnhem where we played team Cue Power. Foul and a Miss versus Cue Power ... no grinning please ;-) Unfortunately we lost five frames to four but it was a nice evening and in the end for us that's what counts more than the score. Of course we like winning, no doubt. But it's not the end of the world when we don't. Tonight we're back with Grand Prix Legends competition and I just can't wait to get started. I've been looking forward to this for quite some time. It's just so cool. I'll let you know what happened tomorrow ;-) Driving driving,

'The' frame is mine!
Wednesday, October 06, 2004
at : 10/06/2004 06:59:00 am

Hi all. Finally yesterday evening I was able to clinch the one frame I was still needing to be the victor of Bas and mine Best of one hundred frames friendly competition. And it's not that I won that one with much glory and miles ahead of him. No Sir, it sure took quite some hard work I tell you. Picture this: You're playing a best of one hundred frames match. You get ahead so much that almost in the end the score is fifty for you and thirty six for your opponent. This means you have to win 'just one more' ... The next thing that happens is that you loose no less then SEVEN frames in a row! before finally getting that one frame needed to win the match. Trust me folks, it just doesn't get any more frustrating than that. Sure, Bas had to win another nine frames to keep me from getting the final one but still ... I could kick myself for messing up that much frames. Unbelievable. I guess it's only honest to say I didn't enjoy that last couple of frames as much as I did the first seventy. Really. And I'm also afraid that might have affected the evenings a little. Not that I'm a very bad looser (or at least I like to think I'm not) but I don't like giving the frames away the way I was doing. So I'd like to apologize to Bas for being a bit of a grumpy guy over the past couple of weeks, it's no total fun to hang around when I'm like that I guess. I'll try and better my life, promise :-D We've already started the next series so whish us luck ;-)

New fridge
Sunday, October 03, 2004
at : 10/03/2004 10:06:00 am

Hi all. Got the new fridge hooked up. It's cool *grin* Okay, seriously now. I'm not sure if I told you this but my sister and bro are getting a new kitchen in their (also new) home and the 'old' fridge that was there when they bought the place found it's way to my home. It's one of them two way fridges with a freezing part in the lower side and the cooling part on top. This means I no longer need to kneel in front of the fridge to see what's in there (which is usually not that much). Only thing is that the spot where I wanted to have it was just half a centimeter too tight so I needed to find another place. It now resides directly next to the front door in a corner which is fine for now I guess. The problem there was that I didn't have any power outlets in that corner so I needed to arrange that before I could use the fridge. This is now fixed so I was finally able to start using it. And I love it. It's cool ;-)

Snooker last night
Friday, October 01, 2004
at : 10/01/2004 08:55:00 am

Hi all. Sorry for the lack of updates in this last week. The main reason is the temporarily loss of my home internet connection which is driving me slowly crazy. This would normally not be much of a problem since I do have internet at work so I could have updated the Blog from there. This past week has been very busy here (at work) so there simply wasn't time to do any updating unfortunately. I'll try and keep it better up to date. Simply need to. Both for myself as well as for you. Right, we'll continue with the actual 'news': Next to our normal snooker competition we also play the cup games. Yesterday we snookered one of those but unfortunately we lost five to four frames. The score could have been different in either way; better and worse. The good news was that I won all three of my frames, which always leaves a nice feeling behind. It was just my day, the balls let themselves get knocked in quite smoothly so every chance I got I potted some and scored points. Allthough I won three, I only won one very confident. The other two were black and pink ball deciders which can sometimes be nerve wrecking, believe me. Now it's a matter of time before we will know weather or not we're through to the next round but we'll keep you posted of course. Hang on in there folks, we'll get through this ;-)
