The Dig

Hi all. Yesterday morning I had to almost literally dig the Seat out of a mountain of snow. There was at least 15 cm all over the car. After cleaning most of it by wiping it around the doors off with the sleeve of my jacket I tried to open the door. No luck. The other front door, on the right. Also no luck. Both rear doors turned out to be frozen shut as well so the rear gate was all that was left to enter the car. I climbed all the way to the front, which considered the size of my car is not that easy, and tried to break out instead of get in. This worked but some little peace of plastic could not stand the precision bombing of my shoulder against the door and gave up. It's now somewhere in the snow ... Seat plastic also bad ;-) The first part of the trip to my dads shop was still a bit slippery but the more I got to it the better it got. Only the fog got thicker and thicker and I do really hate fog. Gives me headaches. I don't mind driving any kind of weather but fog (and snow, all right) is not funny. It's not the part that you don't quite see where you're going but the staring into the grey stuff that give me headaches. This time unfortunately was no exception. Yesterday evening I went to a good friend of mine and his family. The initial plan was to go out for snooker but we changed that into a movie night, which is good fun also so it didn't matter. HE had just gotten himself a new box with toys (all kind of wires, a remote and some stuff) and the test was if we could get it to work in such a way that we could watch DvD on his TV. Somehow that had something to do with the movie part so we got to it. And after some fiddling it worked! Good for us. The movie itself was Finding Nemo, thankfully in the original English version, which a joy to watch. Disney is making some great all family movies I tell you. This is one Biek is going to have for himself on DvD also, it's just that nice. I recommend this one to every one who has for example seen Shreck, the Toy Stories, Ice Age, etc. and had a great time. You're going to love this one also. Keep on smiling,

Hi all. Someone once said 'there is no business like snow business' but I bet if he or she had driven the road I just did they would have thought again. What a mess on the roads the last couple of days. But today topped out for me. While skidding my way home I almost lost the car. I was only driving a mere fifteen km an hour and somehow the rear end of the Seat tried to play tag with the front and started to overtake me ... I just managed to get it back in line or else I would have had to scrape it off some trees. Seat bad again. And a couple of kilometers further along the road I almost got hit by some s.o.b. in a mini-minivan (Suzuki Wagon R ... off all vehicles) who must have thought size mattered and tried to take a piece of my road. Big mistake. First of all his mini-minivan wasn't that much bigger than my car (maybe just a little higher) and second I'm not planning on giving up road space to anyone. Period. Call me selfish but my road is my road. Anyway, he nearly hit me and slid across the road to the other side and half off the road. This would have made a great 'near miss' bonus in Burnout, I tell you. Bastard! Man I'm angry at that fellow! And even when I'm sitting here writing I still have about one and a half liter too much adrenaline in my system ... Add to that the two hours and some minutes it took me to get home and you can imagine my mood at the moment. Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!! Lesson: snow is fun, but only to look at, walk in and to throw with :-) But other than that it's just one wet white mess. Juck. Right, I just needed to get that out of the way. Thanks for hearing me out. I feel much better already. Since I had my share of excitement for now I'm thinking of making it a quiet evening, without too much stuff going on. Maybe there is something nice on tv. Or, if there isn't, I might just give my beast of burden, the Grand Prix Legends BRM, some stick and try to get some speed in that car. The more I drive it the more I'm thinking of driving it in the next DSZ season. If only I could get it to go just a bit faster. Snowman signing off,

Driving driving

Hi all. No I didn't mean one of my race sims again, but since I went 'home' from work this afternoon I've been driving a lot through the evening and night. First I had a appointment in Elst but needed to pick up some hardware (laptop) at my fathers store first. So from Best I drove to Katwijk, then from Katwijk to Elst (more about that later on) after that from Elst to Nijmegen (picked up Bas' brother at the hospital) via Cuijk (picked up Bas) ... and finally from Nijmegen (dropped Bas' brother at snooker center) to Boxmeer, via Cuijk (dropped Bas off at home) again. Just about 195 kilometers of asphalt went in under the nose of my car and came out at the back :-) In the mean time in Elst I installed the laptop and ADSL (featuring as a temporary replacement) and explained the basics of Windows 2000 Pro a little so the person using it could get it to work. Once we finally arrived at the snooker center I played 5 pretty good frames of snooker against Bas, (won 3-2 but not with much room for error as we both played pretty well :-) and now I'm finally home again. So all in all it was quite a busy night. But a bit too much of a good thing I guess. My back is killing me (Seat - bad remember?) and my head hurts. Just a bit too much for comfort. So I'll get my butt into bed and try to sleep it all away. Airmiles-R-us,

Wuss

Hi folks. Does it happen to you too? You're not happy with a certain situation you're in but you're lacking either the courage or the means (or even worse: both) to do something about it? That's me at the moment. I have no idea on how to get me out of it. And what's even worse is that even if I did I probably wouldn't have the guts to say something yet, even though I think that it might solve a lot of guessing and hoping even. It's taking up so much energy at the moment. I keep telling myself that I'm just waiting for the right moment but when is that? And will it be in time? Or has that moment already been here and didn't I notice it for some reason. Questions questions, questions. So what to do? Well I'm not sure yet, but something needs to happen. What also bothers me is that it also seems to effect my general mood at work. At least that is what a colleague pointed out today: she asked me why I was so quiet so something is showing. And if there is one thing I do not like it's to get grumpy or so at work. I like my work very much and it should stay that way. Period. Anyway, I'll figure something out and let you what happens. It will be fine when everything is sorted out, trust me. Just needed to get it a bit off my chest, so thanks for listening :-) The big wuss,

Weekend
Saturday, February 21, 2004
at : 2/21/2004 11:33:00 am

Hi people. The Friday at work was nice and easy. Not busy enough to go mad and not slow enough to get bored. Just got myself into gears at about eight am and stayed there for the rest of the day. Nothing special happened and for a Friday that is a good thing. Not that Fridays are disaster days but it's nice to go into the weekend relaxed instead of stressed out after a busy day. Me being there at eight was a small miracle. After the DSZ race last Thursday I stayed at Vroc a bit late and chatted a couple of ours with Toon, one of the very best GPL drivers in Holland. I can be pretty happy when I beat a personal record with a couple of tenths and still being no where near a benchmark time, but he is more in the national and world record times kind of league. Truly a master of GPL. I watched him drive a couple of times now and that is how I would like to be able to drive when I grow up. Very cool. My hope is that it has something to do with experience because then one day I might be able to follow guys like that. We discussed the online competition and what should be done to keep it attractive to the drivers. It seems that now people enlist very easily but Toon told me there have been races with as little as eight people at the start in his division, which is really a shame. In our division I think the lowest car count we had was eleven cars. So that's not that bad in comparison. Anyway time seems to pass faster when your doing something nice and if I remember correctly we said goodnight at a little over two am, far past my usual bedtime. Only three and a bit hours later my alarm clock made it's usual noises and I almost missed it. Luckily I have three of 'em and they sure do mean business :-) but took them quite a while to get my attention. So when they finally did get through to me it was a race against time to get to work. I nearly made it as I punched in at one minute past eight but these are not great beginnings of the day, I tell you. The rest of the day was okay with us being able to keep up with the number of calls coming in. No strange things happened anymore. When I went home just about the whole country seemed to be filled with cars. Everywhere the cars lined up and formed great jams. Not on my route home fortunately so I was home in little over one hour, which is almost normal. For the rest of the evening I just did nothing much. The whole day I was feeling a bit cold and that didn't pass when I got home. Finally I checked the thermostat and saw I that it was about sixteen degrees because I forgot to turn up the heating ... duh! After turning it on full power it was getting warmer by the minute in my room. Man, sometimes I'm so stupid. Further I chatted a while with some friends and went to bed to get some sleep. This morning I felt a bit better but not 100% great yet, and still cold. We'll take it slow this weekend and gain more energy. Stay warm,

Grand Prix Legends - Last race of the season
Thursday, February 19, 2004
at : 2/19/2004 11:09:00 pm

Hi people. It's done. My first season of Grand Prix Legends online racing is finished. The last race was tonight on the circuit of Spa where I finished 7th. Not the best result, that's very true unfortunately. But nonetheless I had a nice drive through the Belgium countryside. The start of the race was kind of messy for me because I missed the flag guy completely. Add to that a bit of slowness due to the forgotten hi-res car models (I usually replace them with a standard set while online racing, although this looked great ;-) and you can imagine the kind of slideshow that was my first 100 meters. A bit to much on the gas with cold tires and my Lotus was trying to go in all directions but straight ahead. I thought Bas was the only one passing me with this incident so I wasn't too concerned. Yet. Anyway, then the race was on it's way. When we came to turn 9 (I think, I'm not that great in knowing turns and stuff) things got a bit nasty. Of all people, my teammate Bas was in front of me, he had the better start remember, but he went a little wide coming out of the turn. To correct this he had lifted a little and that is what I should have done also. But I didn't and hit him pretty hard from behind. Luckily I could resume the race in the same car, no need for shift-r yet. Sorry buddy :-) Then a couple of laps later I made a small mistake giving Bas the chance to pass me again. After this passing we get almost a half lap of vintage GPRT driving, truly nice to watch in the replay. Bas chasing me, me chasing Bas, very cool. Maybe I'll make it into a small movie, it's just that nice. Then Bas makes a small mistake also and I can pass him again. The bit that follows then is rather lonely for me because I'm way to far behind the car in front of me so I can't see even the slightest bit of him and there are no cars visible behind me. So what do you do? You just stick in there and finish the race of course. I did have a small rendez-vouz with a backpacker on about the same bit of track where I ran into Bas earlier, but that was no big deal. Just a classic race incident. No hard feelings, shift-r and we we're both on our way again. Appart from that nothing much happened, a shame I didn't do better here. I did have good hopes for this race. Right. Like I said I finished 7th in this race, but I also took the 7th place overall in the Dutch Simracing Zone Grand Prix Legends Division 3 Season 4 Competition! Look here for the final results. And that is not too bad for my first season. Set aside a couple of races that didn't went as planned and I'm pretty happy with this result. Bas took 12th place in the end and Stefan 15th. As a the Giant Pixel Racing Team we finished 4th in our 3rd division and 8th overall! And I can tell you that I'm pretty pleased with that. For sure we'll be back for the next season and then I'm going for podium :-) Unless of course I'm driving the BRM I love so much, because then I'm going for 7th again, or maybe try for 6th. If I could succeed doing that in a BRM it would be an even better season then this one, but I'm still thinking about what to do. We'll see. See you next season,

Otto in the house

at : 2/18/2004 07:16:00 pm

Hi listeners ;-) It's time to introduce 'the other one' living in my house: (woning ;-) Otto. Otto is green and he can fly. No I haven't lost my mind, neither have I been drinking, please bare with me as I'll try to tell you something about my little friend. I never used to think that living together was my kind of thing, especially since I'm not home that much. I work during the days, have a couple of evenings where I'm not in, so where would be the fun in setting up a close relationship? We would see each other in the mornings, whish us a nice day at work and bump into one another in the evenings on those rare occasions where we actually would be home at the same time. When I first took him home it was a fun ride. I drove my car up the highway and suddenly realized I was going a bit to fast maybe. When I glanced to the other seat Otto was just scratching himself behind his ear, no problem there. When I showed him my living room it took him quite a while to figure out just what was where. You know, the usual getting to know your environment kind of period. Nowadays he's getting more and more comfier and doesn't hesitate to try out new thing in the room, looking carefully at them before climbing and walking over them. It's nice to see him get comfortable to the room and me so quickly, really great! Sometimes he doesn't like to be put back in his cage. On those rare moments I can just walk after him through the entire room, trying to convince him otherwise. I just don't like to have him loose freely when I'm not around. That's when the flying bit comes to his aid. If he, for whatever reason, thinks I'm going to grab him he just takes off and flies to the other side of the room. Obviously he's a much faster flier then I'm walking to then the 'chase' begins all over again. This is not often the case though, mostly he just let's me pick him up and put him behind bars. Right now he's having a field day walking all over my fingers as I'm trying to type this blog to you. Somehow he just loves the sound of clicking keys very much ... Don't fly, walk,

Valentines day

at : 2/18/2004 07:14:00 pm

I know I know, I haven't been doing that much with valentines day before but someone made me think of it in a whole different way. I'm not sure how to put this to words and make it mean something, since this is a somewhat new experience for me. Anyway Friday I mailed her a sweet valentines card together with a nice little poem, and I also bought her a small present. The main 'problem' was that I wouldn't see her again until Tuesday, as I had to drive to the airport last Monday remember? My initial idea was to try to get to work before her and place it on her desk, but that meant that I had to get there at about 06.30 and I wasn't sure if the plant security would let me in so early. So I decided to go to work the normal time and wait for the opportunity to rise. When I did a coffee round she luckily asked for a cappuccino so I could give her the present together with a cup of coffee (I'm not that much of a hero when it comes to these kind of moments, I know. All talk ...) The surprise was nice and thank god for me she liked it :-) The rest of the day I didn't see much of her as she had a day in the field with our local supporters but my day was all right anyway. To be continued,

Monday - Part III
Monday, February 16, 2004
at : 2/16/2004 10:24:00 pm

Okay okay, before people start calling me names like Peter Jackson for making today into three parts with each having an open ending (don't you just hate it when that happens :-) it was totally necessary. Having this tricky apologizing part out of the way, I can tell you about my movie night. School of Rock! That was the name. In short it a story of a guy who's life is all about music. Only the money making bit isn't working out well to say the least. Then one day his band replaces him with someone who they think is better and he needs to get something going to pay the rent and stuff. Well he ends up in a school teaching kids. But he's not teaching them the regular stuff, he discovers that those kids can play music and he starts to 'teach' them ROCK! In the end this band of school kids, called School of Rock, enters some sort of contest among amateur bands and they totally rock the place. I know I can't describe it naerly as funny as it was on screen (allthough I am trying of course :-) but you have to trust me there is a whole lot more going on in that movie. Only you'll have to go and see it to know :P When anyone wants to see it also, please let me know because I'll take you with me and watch it a second time. It's on me. (I've learned that during weekdays we can go using Airmiles and I have a huge bunch of 'em, so ...) What a cool and funny movie this is. You should all go out and see it. Please do yourself a favor and go! To this movie of course :-) Rock safely,

Monday - Part II

at : 2/16/2004 02:39:00 pm

It's me again. I was back from my airport trip at around 12.00 so apart from our walk on the airport I've been driving for 5 hours, give or take a few minutes. The way back was a whole lot shorter, which is of course a good thing :-) When I came home I just got in bed and slept for a couple of hours. I needed it okay? This is not an age thing (I hope) but just the long hours on a Seat seat were just a little much for comfort. On these occasions I really do miss the Subaru Legacy I once had. That car could take me around the world and I could still get out fresh. Add to that the fact that I've been having some long days last week and the picture is complete I guess. Anyway. This afternoon I'm going to visit my sister at her work, something I've been meaning to do for some time now. After a simple tour we'll head for home and Stevie. And tonight we're going to the movies. They told me which one we're going to but I'm afraid I forgot the titel. I'll let you know tomorrow, promise. It should be a comedy, at least that's what I do remember. This also is not an age thing (I hope :-) Seat bad, Legacy good,

Animal sitter
Saturday, February 14, 2004
at : 2/14/2004 03:26:00 pm

Hi all. Yesterday evening Babs and I desperately tried to get her Blog template looking the way she wanted and finally we did it. It now only needs some minor tweaks (I hope/think) but then the base is nicely ready. It takes some effort but after that the result is more than worth it. Time flies when you're hav ... breaking your skull on nice visual challenges inside a Blogger template so the night was over before we knew it. This morning I finally got my needed haircut. I can't think of me getting bold any time soon with the speed it keep growing back. It's okay for a while but then it gets into gear and shoots out. When you then, like I did again, miss your initial appointment with the hairdresser it really gets nasty. But not anymore, it's nice now. The animals. Yes yes, Biek is taking up his old profession as a animal sitter again. My dad is going on a holiday and needs someone to take care of the birds, chickens and plants. So for the upcoming three weeks I'll be farmer Biek ;-) No need for tractors and other mechanics thank god, but still this will be busy times. I'll need to visit the house at least every other day so that means it's also good for the Airmiles level I think. Today at my dad's home I got the guided tour on which food goes where and stuff, so that my dad can have a nice holiday without any worries. Since there we not that many differences with last time we got through it quickly. The rest of the day was kinda easy because there wasn't much else to do than abuse the internet :-) So I did. This whole Msn thing is kinda nice, especially when certain persons are online ;-) I had a great time, that's for sure. Bas called to see if I was up to playing some frames of snooker tonight and I think I will. Last Tuesday we mishit just about every shot and after a match like that you really need some good frames so you know you still have 'it' ... We'll see what happens tonight. Shoot straight,

at : 2/11/2004 11:35:00 pm

Hi, it's me. For the first time in a (bit too) long period, I spend another nice evening with my sister and brother in law Stefan. I like being there very much, they make me feel right at home. Like I said before my sister could not have picked me a better brother in law. We get along so great. I never ever want to loose my sister, but if I could add a brother it would be that guy :-) While he was buying and cooking diner (not that kind of buying, he is not as bad as me. He gets the ingredients and actually cooks them while I sometimes just order in complete meals :-) my sister and I went over some stuff we had to sort out. Maybe I'll tell you folks the details someday but not now, as I just don't feel like it. No nice things to mention anyway. After the diner we sat down behind their pc which had a small problem (we didn't know by then that 'small' was the right word, but you have to be optimistic) with a external harddrive. The drive wouldn't alow formatting it and also seemed to be completely full. The strange thing was that there should have been about 38GB's out of 40GB's free space on it. We were not able to find out what caused it, but we did manage to format the disk and then use it normal again. Problem solved I guess. See? Told you. Small problem. Then we watched the movie from their wedding, now about a half year ago (Look at the pictures), which I had not seen in a completely finished 'directors cut' stadium yet. Even though I've been working on it in secret with PP who did most of the work. I tell you, if you ever have a wedding and if you can afford this guy: get him! He has made such a great movie, truly unbelievable. Masterpiece! Oscar! By the end of the movie we were all so sleepy (but not because of the movie of course) and we decided to call it the day and make a note for picking a next, longer meet and greet date. So then the short but nice evening ended and now I'm getting my butt in to bed, because I need the sleep. Sweet dreams,

Snooker tonight

at : 2/11/2004 12:01:00 am

Hi people. Somebody told me my Blog is getting somewhat boring with me always talking about either racing, flying (lately) or playing snooker. After reading back some posts and thinking this over I came to the conclusion that she may have a point there. However those 3 mentioned ways of spending the little free time I have happen to be my absolute most favorite ones. Until now that is. You never know what the future holds but right now that how it is. And added to that both with snooker and Grand Prix Legends I compete weekly on a national level. So that means there are going to be snooker and race results from time to time and I'd like to keep on posting them over here. So what's a smart thing to do. For example I could sum up our 9 frames spanning snooker competition game from tonight in 2 words: we lost. If I wanted to ad another two words to double the length of that comment they'd be: big time. Now I don't know about you folks but personally that just doesn't look right. It's not the avarege fun-to-read-story you usualy find here. Sure, for now that's enough information I think and I'll see what I can (and will, don't worry) do tomorrow but feel free to let me know your thoughts on this (overhere), since obviously the last thing I want to look like or become is boring. Please do tell me before that happens. And of course I do a lot more than just those three things. On the Saturdays I work in my dads store, I can almost plan one default evening each week for helping out other people with their (pc) troubles, I like messing around with Otto, my bird, I love watching movies in the theater and at home, listen to music, etc. So it's not that my life is in fact boring already (I hope), but it might always be a good thing to keep a open mind on things I guess. Stay sharp,

IL2 - Sturmovik is cool!
Monday, February 09, 2004
at : 2/09/2004 05:05:00 pm

Hi there. Vidi, vini, elevationi negativa (my Latin isn't that good but you get the idea I think) We came, we saw and drastically lost altitude ;-) You can have so much fun with old planes, just great! Sunday Bas and I spend a reasonable amount of time trying out the (for us) new flightsim IL2 - Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles. Those of you who don't know this sim should imagine a very good flightsim but instead of using the most recent planes out there it all takes place between 1939 and 1945. So we're talking about the old WW2 fighter planes here. So no radar, no guided missiles, no afterburners, in fact not much at all, hehe. We're not flying absolutely blindfolded of course, we do have some info: we know how high, how fast and for how long we're able to stay airborne (fuel wise that is). But that's basically it. When you find your enemy you simply point your plane at your opponent, aim a little and give it some lead! And this is just what makes this so much fun. This way it's so much more exiting then when you fire a missile at a 'dot' flying sometimes 10 or more miles away from you. More up close and personal so to speak. Among these old planes is the infamous Messerschmitt BF-109, a extremely versatile fighter plane. Which is (no coincidence) Biek's favorite ;-) It's a good plane, quite fast and very maneuverable. It can carry quite some ordinance also, which is quite handy in these times ;-) I'll spare you all the details but rest assure that we made a bunch of flight hours again! While doing so we also watched the UK Masters 2004 snooker championship and with Grand Prix Legends we drove a number of practice laps on the circuit of Spa, as a kind of training for the upcoming Dutch Simracing Zone competition race. It's the last race of this DSZ season and we want to do well. Bas drove his Honda and I was running my BRM. It was just like old times. When we first started driving GPL, around March 2003, we had those very same cars, only then we just picked them for their visual aspects! Nowadays we both drive Lotus because they are much lighter and more powerful. In other words: they are faster. That this is only theoretically is proven by one guy in our competition who drives a BRM and is more than just a bit faster than us. The guy flies with that car. So this means that a fast driver can be fast in just about any car ... When I grow up I'd like to be at least as fast as he is. Oh well ... you need to have goals, right? Fly safe,

Flying is fun
Sunday, February 08, 2004
at : 2/08/2004 10:24:00 am

Hi there, my fellow human beings. Yesterday evening Bas and I first installed his ADSL. He subscribed for ADSL about three weeks ago so it all went nice and smooth with his application. The installation was very much okay also, so within a little over half an hour we had it working. Then we decided it was time fo fly. With the possible vist of Jaap today we had to make sure we got some flight hours in order to stay alive out there ;-) With us both being the more expirienced racers, he sure is the better flight jock so we had to get some practise hours in. Two things. 1) The F15 rocks bigtime and 2) the SU29 is a very close second. Man do I like those 2 planes. On second thought I don't think there isn't a plane in LoMac I don't like, but those two are my favorites. And lets not forget the A10 tank killer. By the way I don't know who thought that name up but the tanks keep on killing me so there's something wrong here I guess ... But the plane is very nice and flies extremely well. Not that lightning fast supersonic speeds but you can yerk it around corners with incredible stabillity. And the load of weapons you can take with you is very impressive. Beware :-) We keep getting better and better at the whole flying thing. And allthough we allmost never finish missions (we keep getting shot a lot) I yesterday made it back to the airfield and landed the plane in one piece. And all this without instrumentation! You know when I a American movie a car's tire gets shot the whole car blows up right? Well with planes they can miss you completely and all your little gizmo screens are gone. Flying then gets a bit more difficult. We'll see how we'll do today. Wish us luck. This was your captain speaking,

The weekend is here
Friday, February 06, 2004
at : 2/06/2004 10:31:00 pm

Hi folks. Guess what: it's weekend. And a well deserved one, I tell you. Yesterday after the race and the usual after-chat was done I stayed up a little too late, waiting for someone who promised me she'd be online for a while. You know, just didn't want to let her down. However she never showed up :-| Eventually I went to sleep at about 0.30. My alarmclock started to make some weird noices this morning around 5.45 so only a couple of hours after I went to sleep (or so it seemed) I had to get up again. Aargh! When I have that once a week it's not that big a problem, I can take that easily. But with the week I had it was just a little too much of a good thing and I had the worst of days. With my back hurting, a small but very irritating and constant headache and not nearly as much sleep as I needed I went to work. At work during this week 3 of my colleagues went or stayed home, ranging from sick to very sick and another one (who's name we can't print, but she's mentioned here before ... ;-) stayed home today after getting crunched and de-crunched. That kind of thing happening to me would make me stay at home also I think. Nonetheless we were just with the 4 of us today and we were so lucky that it wasn't a usual busy day. Not having the time to even think about getting bored the day flew by like a hurricane (or a F-14 at full afterburner speed for that matter) so I was on my way home again before I knew it :-) I needed a fast day. Thinking about my bed allmost made me pack up and go. But I promised our supervisor I wouldn't get sick before the others were back ... After getting home the first couple of hours I spend sleeping on the couch, and when I later tried to get up I realized that what I should have done was lay down in bed ... man I'm busted now. I can only hope that when I wake up tomorrow I'm as good as new, this is just no good. Speaking of night sleep: let's get some ... Goodnight,

DSZ Zeltweg - The race
Thursday, February 05, 2004
at : 2/05/2004 11:25:00 pm

4th. Oh I'm sorry, goodevening :-) And it was a good evening. As usual I didn't have or take too much time for practising on our competition track, but this time it was limited to a total of about 50, maybe 60 laps. And allthough that may sound like quite a lot I can asure you that it's peanuts compared to the nearly 2200 laps I drove on the Formula One tracks with F1 2002. So I had little practise this time. My qualification went really good. I put my trusty Lotus 49 on the 8th place on the starting grid which is not bad concidering the above. When the race began I allmost crashed out in turn 1 (how about that for a newbie mistake, duh!) and managed to get it back on the track, but barely. The next few corners I drove just a little more secure but not slow enough for anyone to overtake me. Then the race settled and we each drove our laps round after round. At first I was quite capable to keep up with the top 4 cars but after a small spin they we're gone beyond the horizon and I've not seen any of them again. What I did see was the siluet of a second Lotus getting bigger and bigger in my rearview mirrors. They say that to drive real close to someone is one thing and to drive past someone a completely different, but this guys was trying his best. Resulting in 2 minor slips on his behalf so when I made my slightly bigger one we were back at homebase and the game could start all over again. This is very cool racing, when we're this close. You can't afford mistakes or they will cost you dearly. The other guys however can't make ' em eather so you both drive on the edge. And sometimes just over it ;-) In the end I passed the finish line in 4th, just 32 seconds behind the race leader. When I estimate it correctly this will secure my 6th place in the overall standings, but we'll see. No matter what result I get from it, this was beyond doubt one of the very best races I ever drove online, so I'm pretty happy. And 4th ... Finish 4th,

Diner with mom
Wednesday, February 04, 2004
at : 2/04/2004 11:20:00 pm

Hi all. Tonight I had diner with my mom again. It was too long ago since I saw her, which is I think just about the biggest downpart of her and my dad not living together anymore. My dad and I see each other at least once a week because of his store where I work most of the saturdays. But my mom and me actually have to schedule a diner date otherwise we're both just too busy. Sometimes weeks seem to pass by at the speed of light without us seeing each other. Nonetheless tonight was very nice and we brought one another up to date on things that had been happening. These are allways very nice evenings and I keep telling me we should do this a lot more often than we do now ... This afternoon we made the finishing touches to my colleague's blog template (using Notepad, Word and some other obscure tool ... aaarghh!) but now it looks like a million dollars. Well somewhere near a million anyway, just plain cool. Anyway we had to finish it by tonight or her revenge would be terrible she said ... I tell you I can't wait for all that coffee tomorrow *grin* You can go out and see the result for yourself overhere and don't tell her I sent you ;-) Gotta go, it's an early rise tomorrow,

The Results

at : 2/04/2004 01:04:00 am

Hi, it's me again with a short update before I crash and go to bed. Well I did win 3 out of 4 frames (we spend quite a lot of time talking about that Lock-On flightsimulator) but the price was (too?) high. My back is killing me right now and does so allmost literally so let's hope tomorrow I can move around again in a flashy way ;-) I'm gonna go now, my back needs the rest and I need the sleep, so goodbye. Sleep well,

Helpdesk & Snooker
Tuesday, February 03, 2004
at : 2/03/2004 06:18:00 pm

Hi listeners. Yesterdag evening I played servicedesk to try and help a new Blogger user and colleague of mine and we did manage to get some great results in the couple of hours we spend chatting about html codes and stuff. It's allways nice to help people out every now and then, after all it sometimes can make you feel as if you know quite a lot about a certain topic ;-) It was very funny sometimes, I had great fun. And it was certainly good for the amount of coffee I received as thank you at work today so for as far as I'm concerned it's something she can trouble me with again and again :-) We're playing snooker again tonight and I can't wait to get to it. It's been too long since we played so it's itching as we say overhere. My snooker pall has about the same idea so we'll be trying to out-play one another frame after frame tonight, trust me. Tomorrow I'll let you know who was the better over the evening but for now I'd put my money on my buddy, since he has been playing more constant over the last period. Oh well, you never know do you ... Play safe,

The movie-weekend
Sunday, February 01, 2004
at : 2/01/2004 06:42:00 pm

Hi all. Well yesterday we had great fun. We watched The 5th Element (our all time favorite sf movie I guess), Resident Evil, Very Bad Tings and Final Fantasy. In between them we went for a quick shopping moment, my sister and brother in law came by to drop off a very nice desk and later on we had my favorite pizza & grill room bring us some food. A very nice and good movie day so to speak. We also had a lot of help from the weather by the way. It was a very bad rainy day and this is by default good movie weather right? The start of the sunday was, to say the least, not what I expected. I was cold, shakey, feeling as if my body decided to turn itself inside out and had a major headache. The kind that happens avery other year or so. Just really not okay. Problem was I had planned to start with day 2 of our little movie marathon so this illness was not good timing. Second problem was that I didn't have a single aspirine left anymore. So I called my dad if had some and went on route to get them. When I got there the first thing I did was take 2 and tried to stay erelaxed so they could begin to work but things one got worse from that moment on. I'll spare you the details but afterwards I was cleaning the floor and stuff and so on ... Funny how that works by the way because allmost imidiately after you start feeling better as if something really was in the way and got out with the rest. Right now I feel about 200 times better than when I woke up this morning so we're getting there. Anyway, I'll try to get to bed early tonight and sleep the rest away so I can be fit for work tomorrow. We managed to watch one more movie and sort out her music whishlist before it got time to get her to a trainstation. Allways a shame how fast these weekends fly by when you're having fun. We'll Greetz,
