A1GP

After watching the races yesterday I can now see why the folks at the FIA are getting a bit worried about this new racing formula: A1 Grand Prix. And if I were them I'd too be very worried. Good lord, this was a joy to watch! A huge starting field, good looking, nicely colored cars with a V8 in there and good old slicks all around, a bunch of 'new' circuits to see them going round and even a Dutchman in there. Racing just doesn't get any better than this. When it was over Bas and I did some driving ourselves and in the evening tuned in for the Formula One race in Brazil which, when compared to A1GP, was pretty boring to watch. And the Formula One races of this season haven't been excelling with excitement to begin with. With this new A1 kid in town we're going to have so much fun during the winter season, we're getting spoiled folks!

Busy week
Saturday, September 24, 2005

What a week! This past week simply has got to be one of my busiest since a long time. Let me fill you in on the details. On Tuesday our Giant Pixel Racing Team had their Grand Prix Legends race on Watkins Glen which went fine in the beginning but for me ended both in tears and in the hey bales Then on Wednesday we had a GTR race at the nasty track of Brno (I don't like that one very much) which was going a lot better than Watkins Glen, but naturally I didn't win that one either. I did however become 5th in my class, the G2 cars so that isn't so bad I think. The Thursday evening we took things quite easily during the GPRT training evening and went to the track of Donington with the GT's of GTR. And finally on Friday my snooker team had a game to play which we won nicely so that was a pretty good ending of this week :-) The only thing is that weeks like these fly past in no time and there isn't much room for doing other nice things in between. I need to get my time sorted out a bit, before I get burned up or something. Sure it's nice to have things to do but there is a difference between having things to do and needing to do them. I'll think it over and see what I can arrange, lucky for me the upcoming two weeks are somewhat more relax with competitions so I got some time to think, and ...

Too short days
Monday, September 19, 2005
at : 9/19/2005 07:28:00 am

Not sure of you're familiar with situations like this but my days are becoming chronically way too short. For some reason I have so much to do all of a sudden and I think it might be a little over the top. I say 'for some reason' but of course I do know what's using up more time than I have. It's partly work, which is all new and exiting but at the same time can be exhausting because of the catching up I need to do in order to get the procedures in my head. Then there is the studying which is coming along fine, but not nearly as fast as I'd hoped to go through the material. I'm making progress each day but somehow I had thought to be able to take bigger steps. And on top of that all kinds of competitions I'm involved in have began. Three of them to be exact. Snooker competition, and both for GTR and GPL new seasons of racing have began so all that will keep me pretty busy for the upcoming weeks/months. So I'll be in touch and hopefully that will be a little more than the past couple of weeks but at least now you know why it's been so quiet over here.

rFactor

Don't worry, I haven't finally 'found' the sun and was in need of some sunburn protection stuff with factor 'R' to keep me alive. No, Bas and I have been trying out a new racing sim all weekend, and it's name is rFactor. This is one that's going to keep us busy for quite some time I think, since just about every aspect of this sim is well thought through. And that of course explains why we were able to spend just about the whole weekend racing it. But I'll try not to bore you silly with the racing details, if you're interested you can also read that at our Giant Pixel Racing Team Official forums and you're more than welcome to do so.

My big sleepy head
Thursday, September 01, 2005

Man I'm missing a truck load of sleep this week. For some reason that two week vacation has completely messed up my internal biological clock and I haven't got running on time again. Hopefully this is just a phase, and hopefully it's a short one ;-) When I'm not sleeping I'm studying and drawing cars most of the time, which suits me well. As I'm getting the hang of this painting I can now make a car look great in about 4 days whereas my first project, the Corvette's for Bas and myself, took me about a week. So I might not stop when I got our personal cars finished but go on and make a complete set of GPRT Advan cars, as we in fact also need some NGT's for those training nights. Not to mention the spare parts we'll be needing *grin*
