Forget the new system

Righty, folks. Please ignore that last message, I'm keeping this one for now. And it'll be fine, I'm sure. Sometimes the grass does look greener on the other site (yes I spelled that wrong on purpose) and in this case it did too. But it's not my green. Why? Small things. The site's template for example. Over here at Blogger I can do whatever I like with it and with 'the other' service you have to choose from a couple of pre-set templates which were not that bad but not one of them was 'me'. Take this banner for example. Not that it's a absolute definitive masterpiece but I did spend quite some time making it and it would be a shame to loose it if I say so myself. I simply like it do d*mn much. And there is more to it, but that's small things like the posting interface, profile settings I use, etc. Little things I could get used to if the actually grass was as green as it looked from peaking over the fence. Green? Super green!!

New blogging system
Tuesday, March 28, 2006
at : 3/28/2006 10:53:00 am

To be honest this change is not because I wasn't completely happy with the Blogger service I was using but there are certain options in this one that I like very much. So for now I'll be writing my posts into both and then I'll make a final decision on which one to use from then on. Hopefully you all won't notice any changes other than the obvious optical ones. If you do, please let me know so I can look into this.

Cadillac's all over the place
Saturday, March 25, 2006
at : 3/25/2006 10:33:00 am

This morning on my way to work it almost looked like I missed some Cadillac event nearby. First I ran into my current favorite sedan from the modern era: a brand new silver Cadillac CTS. So far so good, I see them appearing more often these days so that's nothing to be alarmed about. By the way I didn't ran into it literally of course, I stopped doing that because the paperwork afterwards was killing me *grin* Then a couple of miles further up road an absolutely gorgeous black 1950 Coupe de Ville passed me by which made me wonder if there was some event I didn't know about going on in the region. When I then met an older (rounder than the current stylish one) model Escalade on my way as well I knew something had to be up. I still don't know what exactly though, I'm just happy to have seen so many Caddy's on my way to work. A good start like this makes today a good day instantaneously.

Guess what? Good snooker again!
Friday, March 24, 2006
at : 3/24/2006 08:42:00 am

I have to be careful with these good results with snooker all of a sudden, or I might just get used to them. Last night we played a competition game against our own team from Matchroom Snooker, the Vets (as in veterans, not the animal doctors), and to our surprise we beat them with no less than seven to two. Because Jaap had to work after snooker he was in and out in a heartbeat. He was already at the table when Bas and I came in and unfortunately I didn't even get to talk to him much more than a polite 'goodnight'. He won one frame and Bas and I both won all three of ours leaving the Vets with something to think about for the evening. It's basically the same thing every year. When we start our match they seem quite motivated to take away a large chunk of the points and when they don't, the score has always been around five to four or something, we get the 'we actually needed the points and probably won't promote now' speech to which we reply that they should win more during the rest of the year so they wouldn't be in such a need of our points. And play better of course ;-) And last night we had the 'pleasure' of a bit of a hassle over points scored during a break which, in one word, is obviously pretty sad. We don't need that kind of trouble, and specially not from a member of one of our own teams. It's a real shame it happened, but what can you do? Our overall mood when driving home was good though, we certainly enjoy beating other snooker teams in competition and they are by no means an exception. Cheer up lads, better luck next year! *grin*

#53

That's right, the one and only. For the people who read this and think that I'm loosing it (more than usual): this morning on my way to work I saw Herbie drive by. I smiled all the way to work, thinking back to those funny movies. You know Herbie don't you? It's that sweet looking, crème colored VW Beetle with red and blue stripe over the length of the car running around with that unmistakable #53. There were a bunch of movies starring this little car back when I was a kid and I loved each and every one of them. Haven't seen them on TV for quite a while now, but I hope they will return someday to revive those memories.

A 'sparkling' day
Friday, March 17, 2006
at : 3/17/2006 08:50:00 am

This morning on my way to work I saw a strange accident on the highway. A brown metallic Fiat Punto looked like it was being chased by a VW Passat. It had to be a chase because their individual distance was so little that this had to be something more than just traffic following each other. While looking at it I thought I remember thinking that had I been driving that Punto I would have given that Passat something to think about and remember me by ... I just absolutely hate tailgating, it's high in my top 10 of all time most irritating traffic situations. Back to the Punto. While looking at her bumper I noticed that the exhaust pipe was hanging from under it a bit odd. Not the usual horizontal position but it looked like it had broken and was hanging from only the last mounting point and nothing else. When I came to the 'e' of the 'nothing else' part, that last mounting point gave up too and the exhaust came all loose entirely. So it bounced on the highway with a shower of sparks coming from under the Punto. Then it left the Punto and I think it bounced two times before it reached the Passat which ran straight over it, braking like crazy. I couldn't help grinning, he got what he deserved. That'll teach him. And for us, the other people in traffic, it was a nice spectacle to watch with the sparks and all that. :-)

Lovely snooker again
Wednesday, March 15, 2006
at : 3/15/2006 08:13:00 am

I have to admit that my personal victory over all three members of the visiting snooker team last night came as a bit of a surprise. Now I know that during practice last week snooker went really well but since my snooker abilities seem to go up and down lately I had little hope to play that well again last night. And to be honest I didn't, but at least it was good enough to secure all three of my frames, which in the end helped a lot for the five to four frame victory of our team. When the three frames were finished I was physically too so I put away my cue and called it a night. A good night. :-)

Watch this
Saturday, March 11, 2006
at : 3/11/2006 08:54:00 pm

No that's not proper English in this case, I know. It's should actually have read 'this watch' but that sounds a bit silly as a post title, doesn't it? Anyway, what I wanted to share with you is that as of now I'm the proud owner of a very nice watch. My dad brought it with him from his holiday and gave it to me for taking care of the place and all obstacles this time, the times before and the next couple of years ;-) When he handed it over this afternoon I had to wonder how often he was planning to go away again, because this is not just any watch. It's a Citizen Eco-drive Calibre 2100, which means that it recharges itself using solar energy. Beneath the face of the watch is a solar panel which recharges a battery that can store enough energy in the battery to last more than half a year in total darkness. That's pretty amazing if you ask me. Next to that feature it hasn't got many rings & bells and stuff on it, something I appreciate very much. I don't like those 'twenty five functions in one' kind of watches, though I know I did when I was still a kid. But back then everything had to have some high gadget value I guess. :-) It's also water resistant up to two hundred meters so when it's raining really really hard I have to park the car close to my home ... *grin* I'm just so happy with this one, it matches exactly my basic needs and taste in watches. It's a awesome watch. Thanks dad :-D

Snooker was fantastic
Wednesday, March 08, 2006
at : 3/08/2006 10:13:00 am

Yesterday’s snooker was awesome, simply awesome. I think I've played a couple of my very best ever frames of snooker last night. In the best one I knocked in no less than three twenty two breaks which was enough in the end to win it. I have no idea where that came from but I sure hope it comes back more often. ;-)
